This is a Nikon ad, in Korea. When you walk by, the paparazzi cameras flash at you. Look at the surprised look on the dude's face. Priceless.

Here it is...Above, my piece from the "Family Tradition" show at De La Barracuda entitled "Follow The Leader." When I heard about the "Godfather" theme, the first thing I thought of was the over-the-top influence that trilogy had on rap music. For as long as I can remember, rappers have been comparing themselves to characters in the Godfather films, idolizing the imagery, and even dressing like the characters. That's why, in this image, I had to put Marlon Brando in the shoes of Rakim. Both carved out a path for many artists to follow.
Thanks to Ron English, Michael Lau, and MINDstyle for having me in the show.

I had lunch with Gary Baseman the other day. What a unique dude. i don't know when I originally met Gary, but we did a collaboration a while back...here's a pic of it from my iPhone:

Anyway, we ate good sushi and talked about art and life. I also visited his studio. Gary's studio is kinda what an artists's studio should look like: a whole lot of cool stuff packed into an almost-frenetic painting and working space. My studio is not nearly as cool looking...I'll have to work on that.
Also, Gary gave me a copy of his book. Good stuff.

Glorious Excess DIES is on the way...but first, the SURU Celeritas show on Saturday at 8pm. Mr. Hahn and John Hensley have put a lot of work into this one; I think it's going to be really incredible. I'm looking forward to seeing the Barry McGee motorcycle...more info at http://suru-la.com/, of course.
On a random note, here's an interview I did with Art Center: http://www.artcenter.edu/accd/pdf/publications/boundless_shinoda.pdf
