A number of businesses are encouraging people to vote by giving away their products as a reward!

Starbucks is offering a free 12-oz. cup of coffee as a reward for voting (just show them your "I Voted" sticker). Ben and Jerry's is giving away a scoop of ice cream. Krispy Kreme is giving away red white and blue donuts...mmm...tasty.

A longer list and links can be found here, courtesy of USA Today: http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2008/11/voters-offered.html

One company is even giving away sex toys. See the MSNBC article here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27455136/

PS: GET OUT AND VOTE TODAY

EDIT: With all due respect, bickering in the comments section is not welcome here. The video above is about crossing boundaries and bringing people together. I find it sadly ironic that this was the post that people chose to start a fight under. 1.) Pay attention to the comments rules, and 2.) take the negativity elsewhere. If that cannot happen, I am going to remove commenting altogether, on all posts. Lastly, don't post an apology comment. You're already over your one post limit.

    Thanks,

    The Management

I'm not posting this to promote Obama, but the following piece was hilarious to me. Remember this commercial?...

  • water: bottle vs. filter

    October 15, 2008 83 Comments

Americans send billions of water bottles to landfills each year. On tour, bottled water is an easy and sometimes necessary solution...but I recently thought about the number of bottles in the trash, and wondered if there is a way to do better.

The topic is a bit of a worm-hole...if we're on tour outside the country, drinking the tap water can actually get you sick (thank you, Tijuana). I think most people are OK with their own local water, but as soon as you leave home, tap water can taste weird...for example, to me New York water is totally sketchy (it tastes the way the subway smells).

Bottled, filtered local tap water has its own problems ($1.50+ for a product I can for free at home? Plus, it tastes like dirt).

On the other end of the spectrum, a lot of people here in the U.S. drink bottled waters that are flown halfway across the world. I started wondering about the waste it is creating (jet fuel, shipping truck emissions, cardboard & plastic packaging).

So what's the best option? I don't really know yet. I'm going to try to start bringing a small water filter on tour. I have a water filter at home that I use regularly, so I don't use many bottles at home, and it works really well. Someone needs to invent a sports bottle with a built-in filter...

Britta started this interesting campaign to promote filtering your own water. Pretty cool. Check them out here:

Incidentally, I just realized I never officially blogged about the Music For Relief t-shirts I designed. You can check them out and purchase one here: http://bandmerch.seenon.com/detail.php?p=58965&v=musicforrelief

  • U.S. Presidential Election

    October 9, 2008 65 Comments

For a lot of us here in the U.S., it's difficult to filter through all the information that floats around during election time. We're bombarded from all sides with issues, rumors, and stories--it's easy to feel overwhelmed. In an online treasure-hunt to figure out where the candidates stand on various key issues, i found these two sites.
