MUSIC FOR RELIEF IS CONTRIBUTING TO THE RECOVERY EFFORTS OF DIRECT RELIEF INTERNATIONAL

Direct Relief International is preparing additional emergency medical material assistance to assist health centers and evacuation shelters serving those affected by Hurricane Ike, which made landfall in Galveston, Texas Friday evening as a Category Two storm. Four sites received specifically requested materials today via overnight airfreight, generously donated by FedEx:

    * Amistad Community Health Center, Corpus Christi, TX
    * Texas Association of Community Health Centers (TACHC) Distribution Center, Austin, TX
    * Primary Health Services Center, Monroe, LA
    * United Community Health Center, Eunice, LA

Since September 1, Direct Relief has supplied its medical safety-net partners in Texas and Louisiana with nearly $400,000 in medical material aid to assist their response to Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. Two members of Direct Relief’s domestic programs team are in Louisiana surveying evacuation centers and clinics throughout the week. Many evacuation shelters set up for Gustav are now serving those affected by Ike.

SITUATION IN COASTAL TX & LA: At least 100,000 homes were inundated by surging waters in southeastern Texas as a result of Hurricane Ike, the city ofGalveston and other coastal communities were devastated by floods. As of Tuesday 9/16 more than 30,000 evacuees are still living in nearly 300 public shelters, and roughly 2 million people in Texas alone are without power.

SITUATION IN HAITI: Four storms - Fay, Gustav, Hanna and Ike - have hit Haiti since mid-August, killing over 600 people and affecting hundreds of thousands more. Severe flooding and lack of infrastructure have made it hard to deliver relief to many of the worst affected places, including the port city of Gonaives. Aid workers said tens of thousands of people were huddled in shelters with no food, water, sleeping mats or latrines.

what do we think of a news organization manipulating media to serve a private agenda?

  • KENJI / internment / hiroshima

my friend frank (we've worked together on most of the art for LP packaging, etc.) sent me a link to this video above. his aunt is a teacher, and a student of hers did it. i think it's great.

i know there are a few fan videos out there for the song "kenji," and many other FM / LP songs. i just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who makes fan videos to our songs. they're great!

on that note, someone also sent me a link to new photos of the aftermath of the hiroshima atom bomb. they are new photos, found in a cave. the photographer is unknown. please be warned, these are extremely graphic.
