Check out the crazy rendering on this fan art...Thanks to Clara 110 for the heads up. The artist's page is at http://widyarahayu.deviantart.com/

We're in Tokyo for the Summer Sonic show tonight...I got up at 5:30 for a little Tsukiji Fish Market breakfast. If you ever come to Toyko, you have to do it. Sushi and a beer at 6AM. Best way to get ready for a crowd of 60,000.

  • GLORIOUS EXCESS DIES comes to L.A.

Posted by lpcrazygirl (similar posts by others) - I would like to read something about your glorious excess dies art show or rather if you will make a glorious excess born/dies art show in another country like maybe germany. That would be amazing and I think that many fans will go and see your art show, because it's incredible!

M: Sorry for the late response on this / these...I'm glad you guys asked about the art show. My GLORIOUS EXCESS DIES art show is returning to Los Angeles on August 29th! It opens at the Japanese American National Museum, and stays open from August 30th to October 4th. There will be 17 new pieces, plus a new video documentary. I will be attending the opening, available for autographs if you're interested :) The money from the show, as usual, goes to charity (MFR, ACCD, JANM).

Glorious Excess is about obsession with celebrity culture, consumer addiction, and fascination with excess. The show follows a nameless celebrity character as he indulges in the sex, drugs, and rock n roll lifestyle. In this show, he grows to the limits of his fame, reveling without moderation in the excesses of modern celebrity until he implodes.

I'm also pleased to announce there will be a new book released with the show. It's over 120 pages long, and covers the entire Glorious Excess experience, in text and pictures. Not just a "making of" piece; the book elaborates on the thoughts behind the show, with stories about how my ideas and thoughts on the subject came to be. It's the first time I've been able to properly sum us the GLXS experience. More info to come...

Some late responses to a reoccurring fan question...

Posted by nikkiann0100 - Mike, any new info regarding Glorious Excess (Dies) would be awesome. Cant wait to see the show. :)

Posted by Madlen - What's going to happen to your character in your new art show "Glorious Excess:Dies"?

Posted by cuz - Hey Mike, tell me how Glorious Excess (Dies) is going? Are you still working on the pieces or you're done? Let us know anything about it. I loved the Born art show and can't wait for the next one.

M: As you guys now know, the GLORIOUS EXCESS DIES show is coming to the Japanese American National Museum on August 29th. I'll be there once again, at the opening, to say "hi" and sign stuff. This week, I've been putting the final touches on a NEW BOOK that covers the entire Glorious Excess (Born and Dies) experience, from beginning to end. I'm really excited about it.

There will be images of all the artwork, including some sketches and photos of the pieces unfinished. Shepard Fairey wrote the foreword. I wrote five different texts describing the thoughts behind the show. I think this is the first time the real ideas behind Glorious Excess have truly come into focus, and I hope you all get to check it out.

In unrelated news, a couple friends of mine are involved in putting together the Tattoo Hollywood Convention. (No, it's not Chester and Club Tattoo) Shouts out to NORM. For those interested, here's the info. Good stuff...

    FORT MINOR
Posted by Marie14 (similar posts by TheParanoid, spraypaintNinkpens, others) - I always love the posts about whats goin on with LP...i'm really wondering if or when you'll make a new fort minor record...?
M: Thanks guys...I'm diverting all my Fort Minor energy into the next Linkin Park album. I wouldn't say that the next LP album is going to be full of rapping, but there will likely be more rapping than MTM. There will also hopefully be some really dope beats as well :) Lately, I've been addicted to my MPC.
