BREAKING NEWS: Linkin Park will be working on the score for Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen.

Although I wasn't at liberty to say it before, the song I've been referencing here on mikeshinoda.com in the past few weeks...is actually being done for Michael Bay's new Transformers film, due out June 24th.

In addition--and probably ever cooler--we have been offered the unique opportunity to help score the film. The song we wrote is being used as one of the themes, and we will be writing various interpolations on that theme, and trying out some other thematic ideas as part of the (very large) team scoring the film.

My bandmates and I are working with award-winning film composer (and resident ass-kicker) Hans Zimmer. We met with Hans last week, and heard some of the incredible things he and his guys have done with our new song. In the next few days, we'll be doing some work with Hans' amazing writing and recording crew.

Michael Bay has shown us select scenes from the film, and it looks incredible. I can't wait for you to see it.

As some of you may have heard, my bandmates and I are proud to announce that will be releasing some games for the iPhone and iPod touch. We will be making the games with Artificial Life, and hope to have the first game out later this year, although it's still in the design phases.

As I have definitive info about gameplay and release, you'll be the first to know!

  • MOCA Apprentices

    January 23, 2009 75 Comments

Last night I visited the Museum Of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in L.A., and had the privilege of speaking with a group of students from their Apprenticeship program. I met for about an hour with twenty exceptionally bright young people about art, music, credibility, commerce, and Lil' Wayne (they seemed intrigued / repulsed by him for some reason, LOL). We looked at my art, and the creation of the art of Minutes To Midnight, including in-progress versions of our logo and and album cover from that album. It was a lot of fun, and I probably learned as much as the "students" did. Thanks to Denise Grey and my friends at JANM for helping put it together. Here are some images...

For those of you in (or near) Barcelona, I have a brand new painting that will debut this week at a show called "Nobody Walks In L.A." The show takes place at Masters Art Gallery, Barcelona. Here is the info. Thanks to Beau and Cerasoli LeBasse Gallery for helping put this together.

The new piece, entitled OYAKODON, is 24"x24", and continues the theme of Glorious Excess. It will be for sale at the show, proceeds will again go charity (M. Shinoda Art Center scholarship, benefiting illustration and graphics students based on financial need and quality of work). After the show, I'll put up an image of the new piece here on mikeshinoda.com for you all to check out.

    Here's the info:

  • Rate This Post / Kehinde Wiley

    November 14, 2008 80 Comments

Firstly, a ratings system has been implemented. Feel free to visit any of your favorite posts here on mikeshinoda.com and give them some stars...this will help me know which things you like to see more of. I intend to create a "top 5" list from the highest rated posts. "Featured Posts," "Music," and a search function are still being worked on by the Sparkart machine. Sorry for the delay ;)

Anyway, on to other things. Artist Kehinde Wiley is showing at Deitch Projects in New York. I feel like saying more, but I think the images say it all. It's absolutely stunning.
